The 25th Catholic Mass Communications Awards Ceremony

The CBCK Committee for Social Communications (President: Most Rev. Timothy Yu Gyoung Chon) held the 25th Catholic Mass Communications Awards Ceremony at the Coste Hall at Myeong-dong Cathedral in Seoul, on December 1, 2015.

Each awardee of the four sectors, Broadcasting, Newspaper, Publishing, and Film, was encouraged with an awarding plaque and 2,000,000 KRW.

The Prix in the sector of Broadcasting was given to Mr. Kang, Yun-gi producer of the Korea Broadcasting System (KBS) for his documentary “Deep Insight”.

The Prix in the sector of Newspaper was given to Mr. Kim Min, journalist of Kyeonggi Daily Newspaper for his article “Children of Yeongjong Refugee Center go to Hannuri Multicultural School”.

The Prix in the sector of Publishing was given to Ms. Gong Ji-young, writer of “Travelogue of Monasteries II”.

The Prix in the sector of Film was given to Mr. Ryu Seung-wan, director of the film “Veteran”.

In his congratulatory remarks, the Most Rev. Osvaldo Padilla, Apostolic Nuncio, thanked the Awardees for being in the frontlines of the Church’s mission. Also, he said, “The Awards are a recognition of their activities. It is the people of the Mass Media who present the facts of the world and who show others the true face of the Church. In doing so, they also portray to the world the face of Jesus, who cares and loves all of us.”

In his congratulatory remarks, Bishop Yu said, “The works of the awardees of this year show what values the society particularly needs. Because of the expectation to eradicate corruption and injustice in our society, the Kim Young-ran Law was more persuasive and impressive. The article of Mr. Kim Min, awardee of the sector of Newspaper reminds us that the refugee children also have the right to be educated in elementary and middle schools. We need time for self-examination and self-reflection to recognize the reality of the society. In this spirit, the Travelogue of Monasteries helps readers to confess themselves, others, and God.”
