The Korean Conference of Major Superiors of Men's Religious Institutes and Societies of Apostolic Life (KCMS) held its Spring General Conference at Retreat House of the Order of St. Benedict in Seoul from April 15 to 16, 2009. The KCMS decided that it would promote a "Special Prayer for the Peace and Stability of the Korean Society" of the religious and missionaries. In the prayer text the KCMS said, "In the Korean society 'the preferential choice for the poor' of the Christian teaching is challenged by the culture of development and consumerism. We as Christians are responsible for this problem because we do not practice the evangelical life of the Christ. …… The prayer of the religious will be an instrument of the good Lord who gives life to all Christians in this world".

Besides, the KCMS also urged all the religious institutes: to live more faithfully in the spirit of the Gospel on the firm basis of their respective identity; to pray first for the poor and marginalized; to pray for the ethos of the respect for life; to pray for the protection of the natural environment; to pray for the peaceful relation and reunification of the two Koreas; to pray for the promotion of the religious vocation among the youth.
