The Archdiocese of Seoul Established a Foundation
The Archdiocese of Seoul established a foundation, 'Babo Nanum', to promote the sharing spirit of the late Stephen Cardinal Kim Sou-hwan. The late Cardinal Kim wrote the word 'Babo' under his self-portrait, which means a fool. The purpose of using the word 'Babo' is to pay a respect to him and to keep in mind to take care of the poor around us. On February 8, 2010, Caritas Seoul and One-Body One-Spirit organization announced that 'Babo Nanum', approved by the related civil authorities, is planning to build up a nationwide network in order to keep on with the noble spirit of the late Cardinal Kim, who devoted himself to sharing with the poor and needy. In addition, it is drawing a plan to develop nationwide campaigns for raising fund and arousing public awareness.
Another purpose of this foundation is to promote the culture of sharing. Thus, it will support individuals and communities that contribute to improving public awareness and developing communities with love. According to the principle of equality of benefit, it is expected to promote the following projects regardless of religious difference: to promote the culture of sharing love through nationwide campaigns; to lead a policy study and to improve donation scheme; to map out contribution programs for corporations; to develop public services continuously to enhance communities and to improve lives of marginalized people.
