* Administrative Programs in the Church to Be Networked

On January 14, 2005, computer personnel from each diocese gathered to discuss the incorporation of administrative programs among dioceses and decided to set up a committee for networking pastoral administration (tentative name) for its standardization.

With the advent of information-based society, the need of building administration network has been raised but it faced difficulties due to the lack of standardization. Thus, this decision is expected to gear up for the standardization and networking of administrative programs.

The committee will be operated through the national meetings of computer personnel and of diocesan chancellors and the permanent committee, which is composed of chancellors and computer personnel of the Archdioceses of Seoul, Daegu and Kwangju and the Director of Administration of the Catholic Conference of Korea. In particular, the proposals related to standardization will be examined and decided through joint meetings of computer personnel and chancellors.

The Rev. Patrick Ju Ho-sik, Director of the Computerization Office of the Archdiocese of Seoul, said, "This meeting has significance since those responsible for the administration, namely, diocesan chancellors, agreed to promote the standardization of the form and process of pastoral administration."

* Cardinal and Bishops Laud the Biopic of Mother Teresa

At a premiere of the biopic of Mother Teresa held in Seoul on January 12, 2005, Stephen Cardinal Kim Sou-hwan and Bishops valued the film "Mother Teresa" and her life marked by charity. Some 1,000 people inside and outside the Church participated in the premiere held in three theaters, including the Most Rev. Nicholas Cheong Jin-suk, Archbishop of Seoul, the Most Rev. Joseph Lee Han-taek, S.J., Bishop of Uijongbu, and the Most Rev. Lucas Kim Woon-hoe, Auxiliary Bishop of Seoul.

Starring British actress Olivia Hussey, who says she always dreamed of this role, and shot on location in Sri Lanka and Italy, the film is to be released to the public in Korea on January 21, 2005, for the first time in the world.

Cardinal Kim expressed his opinion about the film, saying, "This is a film which shows us what a holy life is. It also gives us a message to live out charity anywhere and anytime by seeking for and following the Will of God."

Archbishop Cheong said, "The power with which Mother Teresa moved people in the world consists in the charity which she practiced following the example of Jesus." Quoting her saying that "What we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But if that drop was not in the ocean, I think the ocean would be less because of that missing drop," he said, "In this way, if we live out charity like 'a drop of water,' the world will change."

Mr. John Bosco Son Byeong-du, President of the Lay Apostolate Council of Korea, said, "With this movie, I could feel closer to the life and spirit of Mother Teresa than when I read the books. Particularly, I was moved by her saying that 'I am a little pencil in the hand of a writing God who is sending a love letter to the world.'"
