* Social Communications Committee Sets about Projects for the Year of Eucharist

On February 23, 2005, the CBCK Committee for Social Communications (President: Most Rev. Paul Choi Duk-ki, Bishop of Suwon) held its General Assembly and decided concrete plans for this year, including projects for actively observing the Year of Eucharist and publishing a Catholic glossary.

The project for the Year of Eucharist aims at helping the faithful to participate in liturgy more actively, bearing in mind the importance and meaning of the Eucharist in the life of the Church. To this end, audio visual materials, plays and poems for contemplation will be prepared so that pastors and lay Catholics can live the Year of Eucharist faithfully and draw abundant grace from it.

The Committee also decided to publish a Catholic glossary to correct the wrong usage of Catholic terms among general public. Along with this, reaching the consensus on the need to make known the authoritative teaching and position of the Catholic Church, the participants made a resolution to make efforts in the area of information service toward civil society. They pointed out that official channel of the Church must be set up and deliver correct information and position to the media to avoid biased or distorted reporting, especially regarding Church-related issues.

Besides, the participants proposed to carry out media education for the faithful to make them sensitive to the trends of time and to promote social evangelization corresponding to these days.
