The Pastoral Committee for Labor of the Archdiocese of Seoul celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the Jeunesse Ouvriere Chretienne (JOC) in Korea at the Center of Pastoral Ministry for Labor in Bomundong, Seoul, on October 5, 2008. The Most Rev. Lucas Kim Woon-hoe, Auxiliary Bishop of Seoul, presided over the Mass. He is in charge of the social ministry of the Archdiocese of Seoul.
In his homily Bishop Kim said, “I think it is a great honor for us that the Church in Korea opened early her eyes to the pastoral ministry for labor. ······ I just want to thank those people who have tried to proclaim the Word of Christ in the field of labor for last 50 years for their great efforts.” He also said, "The JOC has been the sanctuary for the workers who are not well treated as a human being. ······ I hope that JOC will make constant effort for the comfort and hope of the workers in the future."
