Lay Apostolate Council of Korea Distributed Homily Resource for 2008 Laity Sunday

* Lay Apostolate Council of Korea Distributed Homily Resource for 2008 Laity Sunday

On the occasion of 2008 Laity Sunday on the 33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time, the Lay Apostolate Council of Korea (President: Prof. Dr. Thomas Han Hong-soon) choose Family as its theme and distributed homily resource for this day to all parishes in the country.

In this homily resource entitled Family As the School of Love And the Cradle of Faith, the Council highlighted the realization of the family-centered lay apostolate, saying Lets put the lay apostolate into practice in our family.

Then, it added, The mission of the lay faithful is to be sanctified through fervent prayers and sacramental life and through the actual practice of the Gospel in their own living places, such as in family, neighborhood and work. This mission should be lived out above all from within family.

In 1968, the Episcopal Conference of Korea established the Day of Lay Apostolate on the First Sunday in Advent in order to make the lay faithful realize their apostolic mission. Since 1970, the Church in Korea has celebrated with the changed name the Laity Sunday on the 33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time.
