The Committee for Life of the Archdiocese of Seoul celebrated the 'Mass for Life' on the occasion of the Pro-Life Sunday. This is the first Mass of its kind. Earlier at its meeting on August 20, 2008, the Presbyterial Council of the Archdiocese of Seoul decided , to annually observe the first Sunday of December as the Pro-Life Sunday.

His Eminence Nicholas Cardinal Cheong Jinsuk, Archbishop of Seoul, presided over the Mass along with the Most Rev. Osvaldo Padilla, Apostolic Nuncio to Korea, and the Most Rev. Then he continued, "It is more important to live as a decent man than to have more fame and fortune. …… A reasonable education in a family is the precondition for the upbringing of the children to be men and women who can take the life seriously. …… More active and concrete participation in the pro-life movement is the way leading to the sincere penitence in the Advent season."
