* Message for the 95th World Day of Migrants and Refugees 2009

The Most Rev. Lazzaro You Heung-sik, Bishop of Daejeon and President of the Committee for the Pastoral Care of Migrants and Foreign Residents Living in Korea of the CBCK, issued a Message for the 95th World Day of Migrants and Refugees on April 26, 2009.

In his message entitled "I was a stranger and you welcomed me." (Mt 25,35), Bishop You urged the faithful to welcome migrants with loving eyes, keeping in mind God's voice and commandment to love strangers among us like ourselves. He demanded a life open to migrants, saying, "The apostles were strangers who lived in a situation where they had to be constantly helped by neighbors.”

Bishop You also pointed out the difficult reality of migrants and foreign workers, who are not treated according to universal value of common good in our society. He also drew attention to the multicultural reality, particularly increasing multicultural families in Korea.
