The Closing of the Tribunal Session for the Cause of the Beatification of 124 Korean Martyrs and Fr. Choe Yang-eop


The Special Episcopal Commission to Promote Beatification and Canonization of the CBCK held its closing tribunal session for the cause of the Beatification of the Servants of God 'Paul Yun Ji-chung and 123 companions' as well as for the cause of Beatification and Canonization of the Servant of God Father Thomas Choe Yang-eop, on May 20, 2009 at the CBCK building in Seoul, with the presence of the Most Rev. Michael Pak Jeong-il (Chairman of the Commission), Rev. Joseph Rhee Chan-woo (Episcopal Delegate) , Rev. Donatus Park Dong-gyun (Promotor of Justice), Rev. Paul Lee Chang-young (Notary) and other witnesses.


 


According to the tribunal process, Bishop Pak declared the closing of the tribunal hearings and sealed 12,600 pages of documents related to the 124 Servants of God and Fr. Thomas Choe Yang-eop.


 


During the session, Bishop Pak said, "By this closing of the Tribunal, the Catholic Church in Korea achieved a long-term aspiration." and asked to "pray for the fruitful result of our works".


 


The acts pertaining to the cause will be presented to the Congregation for the Causes of Saints on June 3, 2009 and the same Congregation will judge the heroic virtues, the facts of martyrdom and the miracles of the Korean martyrs concerned.
