2009 International ICCRS Event Held at Kkottongnae, Korea


 


2009 ICCRS (International Catholic Charismatic Renewal Services) Event was held from June 1 to 7, 2009 at Kkottongnae social welfare institute in Eumseong, Chungbuk, with the theme 'Love in Action'. This event was organized by the National Catholic Charismatic Service Association (President: Rev. Benedict Park Hyo-cheol) with the sponsorship of the ICCRS (President: Michelle Moran).


 


It is first time that the ICCRS Event was held out of the European continent. In the event, 377 delegates from 44 countries participated, including H.E. Albert Card. Vanhoye S.J., retired rector of the Pontifical Biblical Institute, H.E. Telesphore Pladicus Card. Toppo, Archbishop of Ranchi, India and 13 other bishops, as well as some 700 Korean participants.


The delegates of the Event began their official program with the Mass for the reconciliation of the Korean people and the reunification of South and North Korea on June 2 at Imjingak. a tragic location that symbolizes the realities of the divided Koreas. Then, they visited the Seoul Station to deliver the necessities of life for homeless people. On June 3, they had a time to rediscover the Holy Spirit through an Opening Mass, Praise Festival and a time of communion.


 


In the 'Leadership Conference' held from June 4 to 6, the delegates sought the proper direction of the Charismatic Renewal movement through lectures and workshops around the theme 'Love in Action, Holy Spirit and Mission'. Along with this, about 1,200 young people from each diocese in Korea and from the world participated in the 'Youth Festival in the Holy Spirit' and had a time to repent of their sin and vow a new life in the Holy Spirit.


 


The Event was concluded with the conference and the mass, which were held on June 7, the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity, with some 60,000 attendents, and the president of the ICCRS, Mrs. Michelle Moran and the Most Rev. Vincent Ri Pyung-ho, Bishop of the Diocese of Jeonju and Fr. John Oh Woong-jin, founder of Kkottongnae social welfare institute, gave a lecture respectively with the theme 'Love in Action'. In her lecture, Mrs. Michelle Moran said that "this event was a moment to let the world know again the potential power of the Church in Korea" and asked the participants to "be the witness of what we experienced through this event in our life."
