New Vicars of the Diocese of Suwon Appointed

The Diocese of Suwon announced on June 12 the appointment of Rev. Gervase Kim Hwa-tae and Rev. Dominic Yun Jong-dae as Episcopal Vicars of Pyeongtaek Vicariate and Anyang Vicariate, respectively. Rev. James Cho Won-kyu, who was the Episcopal vicar of Pyeongtaek will move to the vicariate of Seongnam.

Rev. Kim was ordained priest in 1980 and from 1998 to the present time, has been working as director of St. Lazarus Village, a charitable institution in Anyang, Gyeonggido, which takes care of lepers in their healing and rehabilitation since 1950. Rev. Kim expressed his impression, saying "It is meaningful for me to be appointed as Episcopal vicar of Pyeongtaek Vicariate, especially in this year of the Priesthood. I renew my mind as priest, believing that what is lacking in me will be filled by prayers of the priests and the faithful of the vicariate".

Rev. Yun was ordained priest in 1982 and has served consecutively in different parishes of the Diocese of Suwon. He expressed his thought saying, "I am still a parish priest and thus, I want to spend the remaining two months with my parishioners joyfully and faithfully".

They will start for their new post on September 1, 2009.
