The CBCK Committee for the Biblical Apostolate (President : Rt. Rev. Abbot Simon Petro Ri Hyong-u, O.S.B.) held its 18th plenary meeting and a seminar with the theme "God's words in the life and mission of the Church" from August 20 to 22, 2009 at St. Jung Ha Sang Education Center in the Diocese of Daejeon.

In this meeting, 185 Biblical Apostolate-related priests, religious and lay persons from each diocese participated and shared the message of the 12th Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops, thus making this meeting a momentum for the renewal of their determination to live the Word.

Trough group discussions and sharings, participants indicated the lack of the animation for the Biblical Apostolate on parish level and proposed ways to promote the Biblical Apostolate, for example, by upgrading the quality of lay ministers, providing divers programs like Bible recitation, activating annual training, retreat and seminar, and reeducating the servants of the Word, etc.

In the dismissal Mass, Rev. Clemens Sim Tag, Executive Secretary of the Commission, thanked those in charge of the biblical Apostolate in each diocese for their commitment to the Apostolate in spite of difficult conditions, and asked them to live in the Word, through the Word and with the Word in every time any place.

The Committee for the Biblical Apostolate decided to celebrate the 'Bible Week 2009' which begins on November 22 (Solemnity of Christ the King) with the theme 'the Word and the Priesthood' to commemorate the Year for Priests.
