Installation Ceremony of the Coadjutor Archbishop of Kwangju

The installation ceremony of the Most Rev. Hyginus Kim Hee-joong, Coadjutor Archbishop of Kwangju was held on September 8, 2009 at the Church of Gwangju Catholic University.


The Mass of this day was presided over by the Most Rev. Andreas Choi Chang-mou, Archbishop of Kwangju, with the concelebration of the Most Rev. Osvaldo Padilla, Apostolic Nuncio in Korea, the Most Rev. Victorinus Youn Gong-hee, Emeritus Archbishop of Kwangju, the Most Rev. Rene Dupont, M.E.P., Emeritus Bishop of Andong, the Most Rev. Vincent Ri Pyung-ho, Bishop of Jeonju, and the Most Rev. Boniface Choi Ki-san, Bishop of Incheon.


Archbishop Kim thanked God and all the faithful of the Archdiocese for the grace he has received, saying "I will dedicate my life to the Archdiocese and the local community with the first mind that I had at the priestly and episcopal ordination."


With the installation of Archbishop Kim, the Archdiocese of Kwangju, has a joy to have a native Archbishop for the first tim since its establishment 72 years ago, as well as to become the first Archdiocese to have three Archbishops at the same time.
