The Department for Youth Ministry of the Diocese of Incheon (Director: Rev. Matias You Seung-hak) held its first Youth Day from 6 to 13 September, 2009, in each parish of the diocese and in the Catholic University of Korea (Songsim Campus).

The Youth Day began with a Mass in each deanery, and during the Mass, young Catholics manifested the communion with God and the fraternity with other parishes' young brothers and sisters by offering a 'Prayer Manito'.

On 13 September, Songsim Campus of the Catholic University was filled with the faith fever of the youth who participated actively in the experiencing programs like an aid for North Koreans, a school for candle making and rhythmical hymns, etc. Particularly, the youth had a time for self-examination and to learn a communication skill for a proper love, marriage and parentship through a program organized by the Department for Family Pastoral Care of the Diocese.

During the event, a Youth Choir Concours was also organized to vitalize the youth choir of each parish, and find and bring up good young musicians for the promotion of the Church music.

The Most Rev. Boniface Choi Ki-san, Bishop of Incheon, encouraged the youth at the Closing Mass, saying "Jesus Christ was a young man when he began his ministry, and most of the Korean martyrs who founded the Church in Korea were also young and were martyred young. I hope that as young people, following the examples of Jesus Christ and our ancestors in the faith, your will open your hearts to the call of God and the world and use your energy to serve the Church and your neighbors."
