The Committee for Evangelization of the CBCK held a symposium entitled "The Reality and Vision of New Evangelization" at the Coste Hall of the Myeongdong Cathedral in Seoul on September 25, 2009.

Following the opening address by Rev. John Yang Hae-ryong, Secretary of the Committee, Mr. Benedict Park Young-dae, Director of lay-run Woori Theology Institute, made a presentation on "Changes of the context of Korean religions and pastoral challenges," indicating external changes of religious situation in Korea in their positive and negative aspects. Then with the theme of "Increase of Catholic population in Korea: key factors and pastoral proposals," Ms. Choi Hyeon-ju, a researcher of the Future Pastoral Research Institute, highlighted comprehensive and timely missionary works. Subsequently, through a penal discussion, all the participants sought to find a vision of evangelization applicable to the complex society in Korea.
