<Message for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity in 2010>

" You are witnesses of these things" (Lk. 24,48)

The Most Rev. Hyginus Kim Hee-joong, President of the CBCK committee for Promoting Christian Unity & Interreligious Dialogue, issued a message for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, January 18-25, 2010, with the theme, "You are witnesses of these things" from Luke 24, 48, urging all the Catholic faithful in Korea to pray for the unity of the whole Christian in the world.

Since all the Christians have not been able to be together throughout the history, we ourselves consider this week as a great opportunity to atone for our divisive situation. The beginning of the unity for Christians should start from putting more effort to find out the true faith without distrust and prejudice each other, which we are asked to be the ones to witness the resurrection of Jesus.

" Mary Magdalene, Peter or the two Emmaus disciples did not witness in the same way. Yet, it was the victory of Jesus over death that all would place at the heart of their witness." said Archbishop Kim. That is to say, all Christians have to pay attention to the common confession and mission in order to show the faith in our lives. Nothing could be more important than the common calling.
