Message for 2010 the Prayer Day for the Reconciliation and Unity of the Korean People

President of the CBCK Committee for the Reconciliation of the Korean People, Most Rev. Lucas Kim Woon-hoe, issued a message for 2010 Prayer Day for the Reconciliation and Unity of the Korean People on June 20, 2010, with the theme, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God" (Mt 5,1).

Bishop Kim said the latest tension caused by the accident of the sunken Corvette Cheonan made us realize that the superficial peace which we have kept turned out to be vulnerable and that peaceful coexistence with reconciliation and unity is very significant.

In order to prevent conflict and to keep the peace in the Korean Peninsular, Bishop Kim asked the faithful several things to do: keeping praying for peace; taking roles as peacemakers; taking care of people suffering from the division; continuously giving humanitarian aid to North Korea; and never losing hope.

Bishop Kim also addressed that it is not easy to achieve peace so we should fight against the evil and make great efforts to achieve the common good.
