* Installation Ceremony of Archbishop of Daegu On December 20, 2010, the installation ceremony of the Most Rev. Thaddeus Cho Hwan-kil as the Archbishop of Daegu took place at the Catholic University of Daegu. Among the some 3,500 participants were H.E. Nicholas Cardinal Cheong Jinsuk, Archbishop of Seoul, the Most Rev. Osvaldo Padilla, Apostolic Nuncio in Korea, the Most Rev. Hyginus Kim Hee-joong, Archbishop of Kwangju, the Most Rev. Peter Kang U-il, President of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Korea and Bishop of Cheju, and other Bishops and priests of Daegu. The installation ceremony began with presenting and reading the apostolic letter of appointment to the Archbishop and was culminated when the new Archbishop, accompanied by the Apostolic Nuncio in Korea, took possession of his cathedra. In his homily, Archbishop Cho said, "I will exert efforts to become a good pastor who is faithful to the Lord's will in leading the people of God into sanctity." He continued, "Together with my flocks I will welcome the significant 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Archdiocese of Daegu in 2011 and take the first step toward the next 100 years dedicating myself to 'new evangelization in a new era'."
