Message for the Sunday for Life

The Most Rev. Gabriel Chang Bong-hun, President of the CBCK Committee for Bioethics and Bishop of Cheongju, issued a message for the Sunday for Life with the theme "Abortion is also Murder".

In his message, Bishop Chang said, "Abortion is a brutal crime infringing upon the defenseless life, committed by the parents and health care agents."

Bishop Chang also pointed out the insufficient sex education and gender equality, as well as poor surroudings for giving a birth, lack of medical ethics, overlooking of abortion by the government, as the main causes of the spread of abortion. He also showed concern that people became insensitive to moral judgments which had been the background of this situation.

To vitalize the pro-life movement, CBCK decided to transfer the "Day for Life" from the last Sunday of May to the first Sunday of May with the new name "Sunday for Life" at its 2011 Spring General Assembly.
