Message for the 97th World Day of Migrants and Refugees 2011

The Most Rev. Lazzaro You Heung-sik, Bishop of Daejeon and President of the CBCK Committee for the Pastoral Care of Migrants and Foreign Residents Living in Korea, issued a Message for the 97th World Day of Migrants and Refugees on May 1, 2011.

In his message entitled "As I have loved you, so you also should love one another"(Jn 13,34), Bishop You said, "As Jesus told us in the parable of the Good Samaritan, we should be the Christians who practice love to everyone including Foreigners."

Bishop You also said, "Ecclesial communities should practice the fraternal charity for migrants. Especially, we should not hinder the infinite potentiality that the children of migrants would perform an important role in our country in future."

He also urged that we should take care of 'Saeteomin' (North Korean refugees settled in South Korea) who "are in the unhappy situation being not migrants nor refugees" and the church must help them to settle in South Korea successfully.
