4th Ecumenical and Interreligious Dialogue Program for Deacons

From June 23 to 24, 2011, the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Korea (CBCK) held the "4th Ecumenical and Interreligious Dialogue Program for Deacons" and arranged a time to visit other Christian churches and other religions' temples, to help deacons broaden understanding of the teachings and the culture of other religions.

19 deacons of the Catholic University of Korea, the participants in this event, visited the Anglican Church of Korea, the Orthodox Metropolis of Korea, the Korea Muslim Federation and Jogyesa, the headquarters of Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism as well as the CBCK and the Apostolic Nunciature in Korea, and engaged in  dialogue with other religious leaders.

One deacon said, "It was a good opportunity to know that various religions are  different  but similar in many aspects. I think that our humble effort to share in common concerns can lead to new horizon for interreligious dialogue and religious harmony." Another deacon said, "Through this program, I realized the need for more knowledge about other religions for the proper understanding of our religion."
