On the Occasion of the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, each diocese in Korea held special events, celebrating the World Day of Prayer for the Sanctification of Priests on July 1, 2011. Among others, especially pilgrimages on foot, special lectures, and spiritual retreats were followed by the celebration of Mass. Some dioceses arranged music concert, movie watching, and a visit to martyrs’ museum.

Since the establishment of the World Day of Prayer for the Sanctification of Priests by the Blessed John Paul II in 2002, the Catholic Church in Korea has celebrated this day with many events and especially fervent prayers for priests.
