Ordination of Auxiliary Bishop of Kwangju

The Ordination Mass of the Most Rev. Simon Ok Hyun-jin was celebrated at Imdong Cathedral of Kwangju on June 6, 2011, presided over by the Most Rev. Hyginus Kim Hee-joong, Archbishop of Kwangju, in the presence of the Most Rev. Osvaldo Padilla, Apostolic Nuncio in Korea, the Most Rev. Peter Kang U-il, President of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Korea, other Bishops and priests, religious, and faithfuls of Kwangju.

In his homily, Archbishop Kim said, “Through sacramental ordination, the Bishop is called to serve the people of God, praying for them, offering the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, and even dedicating his life on behalf of them.” Then he asked Bishop Ok to become a pastor who devotes himself with a paternal and fraternal love to everyone entrusted to him.

In his remarks during the congratulatory ceremony, Bishop Ok expressed his will to become a pastor who is always with the Lord, entrusting everything to him in any sufferings and hardships.
