Message for the 28th Caritas Sunday

The Most Rev. Francis Xavier Ahn Myong-ok, President of the Caritas Committee of the CBCK, issued a message for the 28th Caritas Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011 with the title of "Let's love against our greed."

Bishop Ahn said that people became more frustrated due to the world financial crisis. The crisis triggered the aggravated polarization of the rich and the poor. In addition, almost every household has suffered from debts and high consumer prices made people fall into relative poverty. He also urged that the way to expense the welfare budget should be fairer and clearer, saying that there have been some welfare works to show off and improper activities of workers in the welfare field.

Bishop Ahn said, "To live in the mystery of the incarnation of Jesus is to care others before oneself." "The way we came to know love was that he laid down his life for us; so we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers" (1Jn. 3,16), the bishop quoting the verse to suggest the work that we should do in order to transform the world.

In conclusion, he asked the faithful to love, share, and give alms , realizing the meaning of the works of Jesus
