Message for Overseas Aid Sunday 2012

Most Rev. Francis Xavier Ahn Myong-ok, President of the CBCK Caritas Committee, issued a message for Overseas Aid Sunday 2012 on January 29, 2012.

In his message bishop Ahn said, “Some often argue that many people are starving because of the scarcity of food and water as the result of climate change and the rapid growth of the population. However, we still produce enough food to feed the whole world. The food crisis is a matter of distributive justice, as the starvation is resulted from the injust distribution, not from the scarcity of food.”

He continued, “God gave us a mysterious power to share what we have with others. We have to recognize this power and take the initiative in the practice of love. …… I sincerely invite you all to participate in the effort to expand the kingdom of love building a world of no scarcity for our neighbours, remembering what our Lord told us: ‘I was hungry and you gave me food, …… whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me’ (Mt 25, 35-40).”
