New Apostolic Administrator of the Territorial Abbacy of Tokwon

The Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples announced that Abbot Blasio Hyun-dong Park, OSB, has been appointed as the Apostolic Administrator of the Territorial Abbacy of Tokwon as of May 7, 2013.

Born on February 3, 1970 in Ulreungdo, Abbot Park was admitted to the Order of St. Benedict Waegwan Abbey in 1992 after he graduated from Kyungpook National University. On January 16, 1997 he professed his first temporary vows and then his permanent vows on January 15, 2001. After graduating from the Catholic University of Daegu, he was ordained a priest on October 15, 2001. He studied Ecclesiology at the Pontifical Lateran University from 2006 to 2011. Since 2011 he has served as master of novices of the OSB Waegwan Abbey, president of the committee for novice formation under the Korean Conference of Major Superiors of Men's Religious Institutes and Societies of Apostolic Life, and coordinator of the committee for the beatification and canonization of religious under the OSB Congregation of St. Ottilien. On May 7, 2013 he was elected as the fifth Abbot of the OSB Waegwan Abbey.
