The Diocese of Taejon sends a missionary priest to Japan for the pastoral care of the Japanese faithful.

The Most Rev. Joseph Kyeong Kap-ryong, Bishop of Taejon, announced at the ceremony of priestly ordination of the Diocese held on February 3 that the Rev. Anthony Youn Yeo-ok, pastor of Sapgyo parish, will be sent to the Diocese of Sentai, Japan for the pastoral ministry for the Japanese faithful there.

It is the third time for the Catholic Church in Korea to send missionary priests to foreign countries: some missionary priests were sent to Taiwan and Mongolia before.

The Rev. Youn had worked for the Diocese of Fukuoka from 1993 to 1996 for the pastoral care of overseas Koreans. He said, "I should consult with the Bishop of Sentai about the specific mission I should conduct there." He is leaving for Japan as soon as he is ready.

The curriculum is composed of: introduction to theology, introduction to philosophy, introduction to biblical study, Korean religious study for the first semester; Pentateuch, ethical theology, religious philosophy, Christian spirituality for the second semester; writings of John, Mariology, liturgics, history of the Catholic Church in Korea for the third semester; Christology, sacraments, canon law for the last semester.
