 CBCK Information

 

The Catholic Bishops' Conference of Korea (hereafter the CBCK) is the organization of the Bishops of Korea erected by the Apostolic See in order to promote activity for the common good of the whole Catholic Church in Korea(cf. Statutes of the CBCK, art. 1; CIC, cann. 447 & 449).
The CBCK exchanges opinions, information studies and deliberates and discusses important matters of common concern for the whole Church in Korea, and makes decisions and issues decrees in consideration of the most appropriate forms and means of the apostolate and in accordance with the needs of the times. The CBCK asks the Apostolic See for the common solution of the problems, if necessary, and implements the decrees of the Apostolic See. And the CBCK treats all that is requested by the Apostolic See and the matters concerning the common good of the Universal Church and the Church in Korea.
The members of the CBCK are all diocesan bishops and those equivalent to them in law, coadjutor bishops, auxiliary bishops and other titular bishops who fulfill a particular function on the national level for which they are mandated by the Apostolic See or the Bishops' Conference(cf. Statutes of the CBCK, art. 3; CIC, can. 450).
