"The Promotion of Welfare for the Disabled is
Glory to God and Salvation to Us"
- the Message for the Day for the Disabled

On the occasion of the 26th anniversary of Korea's national day for the disabled on April 20, 2006, the Most Rev. Lucas Kim Woon-hoe, Episcopal Vicar for Social Ministry Apostolate of Archdiocese of Seoul, issued a message entitled "Whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God"(1 Cor 10:31).

Bishop Kim said in the message, "Not the physical disabilities but the social indifference and prejudice is the 'obstacle' for the disabled". He asked the faithful to make efforts to promote the welfare for the disabled with faith and hope following the Risen Christ who had triumphed over the Cross, which is not only glory to God but also salvation to us.

Bishop Kim asked the non-disabled people to respect the personality and individuality of each person with disabilities and said, "In addition to the sharing of heart, let us live with the disabled by fully using our capacity, time, materials, and love endowed by God."

"Let us strive to share meaning of our life, joy, love and hope with the disabled," he stressed.
