Paying a Visit to Buddhist Temple on the Occasion of the Feast of Vesakh

The Most Rev. Hyginus Kim Hee-joong, President of the Committee for Promoting Christian Unity & Interreligious Dialogue of the CBCK, payed a visit to Gwanmunsa, a Buddhist temple of Cheontae Order, and expressed his heartfelt greetings on the occasion of the Feast of Vesakh on April 27, 2009.


 


Bishop Kim delivered the Message of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue for the Feast of Vesakh 2009 to Buddhist leaders, translated in Korean, to Rev. Jeongsan, General Secretary of the Cheontae Order, with the presents of a copy of the Korean Bible: Seonggyeong and a sacred painting of the Last Supper.


 


Bishop Kim had a time to talk with Rev. Jeongsan. Bishop Kim gave his word to make an effort for the interreligious dialogue, saying "Mutual respect and recognition of the values cherished by other religion are the first step for dialogue." Rev. Jeongsan responded in saying "All true religions share a common destination, even though they differ from one another in ways and methods." Rev. Jeongsan asserted, "We can achieve the peace of the humanity, when we cooperate with each another in mutual understanding."
