New Bishop of Chunchon

The Most Rev. Lucas Kim Woon-hoe, Auxiliary Bishop of Seoul and Titular Bishop of Vadesi, was nominated as Bishop of Chunchon and Apostolic Administrator of Hamhung on January 28, 2010.

As receiving congratulations from His Eminence Nicholas Cardinal Cheong Jinsuk, and two other auxiliary bishops of Seoul, the Most Rev. Andrew Yeom Soo-jeong and the Most Rev. Basil Cho Kyu-man, Bishop Kim said, "I humble myself before the grave duty bestowed on me. I will strive to promote a good Catholic community with the predecessor, the Most Rev. John Chang-yik, the presbyterium and the faithful of Chunchon."

When visiting the diocesan office of Chunchon to have time to meet Bishop Chang and the presbyterium of Chunchon on February 1, 2010, he pledged himself to a self-sacrificing pastor for his local church.

Cardinal Cheong said that every priest has to obey God's will, and he was sure that Bishop Kim would successfully fulfill his responsibility.

Born in Seoul on October 18, 1944, he was ordained a priest in 1973. On September 13, 2002, he was appointed as the Auxiliary Bishop of Seoul. Since October, 2002, he has worked as the president of the CBCK Reconciliation of the Korean People.
