New Bishop of Uijeongbu

The Most Rev. Peter Lee Ki-heon, Bishop of Military Ordinariate, was appointed as Bishop of Uijeongbu on February 26, 2010.


 


At the press conf?erence held on February 27, 2010, Bishop Lee said, "I am sorry to have to leave the Military Ordinariate, but I dedicate myself to serving God at work everywhere." "I will do my best", he added, "to develop the Diocese of Uijeongbu with the cooperation and prayer of the presbyterium and the faithful of Uijeongbu and in prayers."


 


On March 2, 2010, the newly appointed Bishop visited the diocesan office of Uijeongbu to have time to meet his predecessor, the Most Rev. Joseph Lee Han-taek, who is due to resign from the pastoral care of the same diocese upon having reached the age limit, and the presbyterium of Uijeongbu.


 


Born in Peongyang in 1947, the newly appointed Bishop was ordained a priest in 1975. He was appointed as Bishop of Military Ordinariate in 1999. He served as the president of the CBCK Committee for Family Pastoral Ministry from 2000 to 2005 and as the bishop in charge of the Life 31 Movement of the CBCK from 2003 to 2005. He was in charge of the 8th Plenary Assembly of the FABC held in Korea in 2004. He has served as the president of the CBCK Committee for Culture since 2005 and the chairman of the Episcopal Commission for Mission and Pastoral Care since 2009.
