* The Christmas Messages of Diocesan Bishops
Each Diocesan Bishop issued his Christmas Message celebrating the nativity of Child Jesus on December 25, 2010, and urged the faithful to be reborn as Christians who bring hope to neighbours in difficulties.
Through the Messages, the Bishops wished a joyful Christmas especially for the marginalized such as non-regular workers, migrant workers, multicultural families, 'Saeteomin' (North Korean refugee settled in South Korea), the aged living alone, and poorly-fed children. They underlined that on the occasion of Christmas we should make efforts to overcome all kinds of division and conflict in the world and especially tensions on the Korean peninsula in building a world filled with true peace of Jesus Christ.
H.E. Nicholas Cardinal Cheong Jinsuk, Archbishop of Seoul, said that since Christmas fundamentally directs toward 'a world without discrimination' we should bring hope and consolation to the weak who can hardly be respected human dignity within social alienation and discrimination."
In his message, the Most Rev. Hyginus Kim Hee-joong, Archbishop of Kwangju, stressed that we are looking forward to a state which has preferential option for the poor and the marginalized and therefore Christians should be faithful to their role as salt and light in the world to safeguard human dignity.
