Concert for Abolition of Death Penalty: "Say Peace, Sing Life"

Concert for Abolition of Death Penalty, "Say Peace, Sing Life", by Subcommittee for the Abolition of Capital Punishment under Committee for Justice & Peace of the CBCK (President: Most Rev. Matthias Ri Iong-hoon) was held at cafe Angello of the Catholic Youth Center, on 30 August, 2011.

This is the fourth annual concert since 2008 but, unlike previous years, it is composed of five small concerts held on the 30th of each month from August to December to help audience share their thoughts in contacting closer to each other. Its another purpose is to promote the respect for life by arousing people's attention to the social problems of suicide rapidly increasing as well as of abolition of death penalty.

The Most Rev. Matthias Ri said, "we should, in collaboration with civil authority, make effort to replace the 'culture of death and violence' which is prevailing in our society by the 'culture of life and human right'. I hope that more and more people can participate in making culture of life, remembering that the death penalty can never be justified as a mean to prevent crime."
