* "Forgiveness and Reconciliation, Shortcut of Peaceful Coexistence"

It was pointed out in a seminar that the forgiveness is the precondition of the unity and reconciliation of divided Korean people, and the 'politic of peace' is possible when the forgiveness is placed in the heart of people.
At the seminar sponsored by the Committee for Justice & Peace of the CBCK (President: Most Rev. John Choi Yong-su) at the Catholic University of Seoul on October 5 with a theme of "Peace and Reconciliation of Korea", the Most Rev. Andrew Choi Chang-mou, Archbishop of Kwangju, stressed that the tragedy of Korean people can be healed through "forgiveness and reconciliation" and it is the only authentic way.
"The reconciliation is the shortcut and essential condition of peaceful coexistence, however, it is impossible without forgiveness," he said reminding the Holy Father's words in his message for the World Day of Peace 2002, saying, "No peace without justice, no justice without forgiveness."
"Both the South and the North cry out for the unification of Korea, but, in reality, words and actions against reunification have been done without hesitation," he pointed out and added "this is the case of politicians in particular."
"The reconciliation requires forgiveness and justice, and this reconciliation will be possible when all the Korean people makes effort for forgiveness each other." he concluded.
